Important Notice from Woodbourne House
After much careful consideration, we have taken the difficult decision to conclude our operations at Freemasons Hall, Douglas from the end of this year. Our final day of trading will be 31st December 2026.
We would like to reassure all of our clients that every confirmed booking taking placed during 2026 will go
ahead exactly as planned, including the upcoming Oktoberfest & Dynamos events.
This has been one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make.
For almost ten years, Woodbourne House has been a place where the Isle of Man community has come together to celebrate life’s special moments. We have been honoured to host weddings, anniversaries, family celebrations, corporate events, charity functions and countless other occasions that have created lasting memories. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who has chosen to celebrate with us over the years.
Like many businesses across the hospitality industry, the past few years have brought significant challenges. Rising food, wage and energy costs are fundamentally changed the economics of operating hospitality venues, while Freemasons Hall, as a beautiful historic building, continues to require
substantial ongoing investment and maintenance.
Over a considerable period, we worked closely with our landlord to explore every possible option for securing a sustainable long-term future for
Woodbourne House. Despite positive discussions and genuine efforts from both sides, we have unfortunately been unable to reach an agreement that
would allow us to continue operating from Freemasons Hall in a financially sustainable way.
We understand that this news will come as a disappointment to many of our customers, clients, suppliers and the wider community. We also recognise the impact this decision will have on our valued team, and our immediate priority is to support them through the coming months.
Our team remains fully committed to delivering every wedding, celebration and event with the same care, professionalism and attention to detail that
has always been at the heart of Woodbourne House.
As we reflect on the past decade, it is the people we will remember most. The couples who trusted us with their wedding day, the families who
celebrated life’s milestones with us, the businesses and charities who chose our venue, the members of Freemasons Hall, and the friendships we have
built along the way. Those memories will remain a very special part of the Woodbourne House story.
We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to every member of our team, past and present. Their dedication, professionalism and passion have helped create something of which we are immensely proud off, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they have contributed over the last ten
years.
Although this chapter is coming to a close, there are still many months ahead. Our complete focus now is on looking after our clients and ensuring every event between now and the end of December is delivered to the exceptionally high standard that people have come to expect from
Woodbourne House.
Finally, to everyone who has supported us over the past decade – our customers, clients, suppliers, partners and the wider Isle of Man community
– thank you. Your loyalty, encouragement and friendship have meant more than words can express. It has been a privilege to be part of so many special moments, and those memories will remain with us long after the doors close for the final time.
